Trying

**Best enjoyed with headphones/decent speakers, as the sound is extra important to the story**

I began making this film as an exploration of grief and loss. I struggled with these subjects head-on, so I decided to write the music for the film as a subconscious entry point to the film. I learned to play cello, piano, and synthesizer so that I could record the score. On a trip back home, I found my childhood home movies and began to digitize them. Between the music and the home movies, the narrative for the film began to take shape.

Since putting out the film version of this project, I’ve deconstructed the film and turned it into a live show where I perform the score live, looping and layering cello, synth and piano, while projecting a live-sequenced, chance-based version of the film – creating a unique experience for each audience.
